AI Citation & Visibility Audit for IT and software

When a buyer asks AI for a shortlist, is your product on it?

Software buyers now ask an assistant for “the best tools for” their problem before they open a review site. The audit shows which products the assistants put on that list, what they say about yours, and which pages they took it from.

The shortlist forms before the buyer reaches your site

A buyer who asks an assistant for help-desk software for a 40-person team gets four or five names and a line on each. The products that are not named are not compared, and the buyer may never learn they exist. That list is assembled from review sites, comparison articles, forums, and vendor pages, in proportions nobody publishes.

What the assistant says about your product matters as much as whether it names it. A plan that was retired last year, a price from an old pricing page, or a missing integration can end the evaluation before a trial starts.

Your documentation is read two ways

Developers ask assistants how to do things in your product, and the answer often comes from your docs. Open docs help an assistant answer correctly and can bring your name into the answer. Docs for paying customers only, or proprietary material, are a different decision. The audit separates AI training from AI search in your crawler rules, so you can keep the first closed and the second open.

IT service providers are asked about locally

For a managed service provider, the question is local and specific: who handles IT for small medical offices in a given city, or who can move a firm to Microsoft 365. Assistants answer those from directories, review listings, and the provider pages that state the service, the city, and the type of client in plain words.

Questions your buyers ask

Questions like these, asked without your name, show whether you make the list. Two or three ask about you by name, to check what the assistants say.

  • What is the best help-desk software for a 40-person support team that already uses Slack?
  • What are good alternatives to the tool we use now that cost less per seat?
  • Which project-management tools work well for a construction company with crews in the field?
  • Who provides managed IT services for small dental and medical offices in Denver?
  • Does this product integrate with Salesforce, and what does the cheapest plan include?

Examples only. Your ten questions are drafted from your own website and order, and you approve them before you pay.

What the audit shows a software company

  • Whether you make the shortlist. For each question and each of seven assistants: named or not, linked or not, and whether your own page was shown as a source.
  • Who was named instead. The competitors the assistants listed in your place, and the review and comparison sites they relied on.
  • Whether the description is right. Every statement about your product, from pricing to integrations, checked against your own site. A wrong price is asked again once before it is reported.
  • What your crawler rules allow. Training, search, and user-requested fetches, shown apart, for your marketing site and, within the 25-page scope, your docs and pricing pages.
